There are currently seven members of the library's pupil volunteer team, here to help you in the Rosemary Aitken Library. Their service records range from one day to three years! They help the library staff with a range of tasks and are given more responsibility as they work through the Pupil Librarian Award Scheme. This starts with First Award and ends with Platinum Award.
Vacancies for new pupil librarians are advertised in the school bulletin. There are currently no vacancies.

The Team
I'm Mrs Robinson, the Library Manager. I love reading (obviously!) and seeing others discovering exciting new books. Some of my favourite books are Watership Down, 101 Dalmatians, Black Beauty, The Hunger Games Series and Phantom (the story behind Erik, the Phantom of the Opera). I work with a great team including Mrs Jackson and a wonderful group of student helpers, known as pupil librarians or THE MINIONS!

Hi! I’m Natty and I’m in Year 13. I have been a pupil librarian since year 7 and have loved every minute of it! I am now a library prefect. For my A Levels I have chosen; Business BTEC L3, Government & Politics and Media Studies.
I have lots of hobbies including plane spotting, cycling, reading and politics. I’m mad about planes, I could tell you the type of aircraft, manufacturer, airline, registration number and where it’s going from/to (but I have an app for that). I could basically tell you all about the plane bar and what colour the pilot’s underpants are! Since I work in a library I should have a good interest in reading, which I do. My favourite book is ‘The 13 ½ lives of Captain Bluebear.’ |
Hello! My name is Emily Kelso and I was been a Pupil librarian for 3 years and am now a library prefect. I am currently in Sixth Form and my favourite subject is History. I also play in the Wind Band at school and I run the debate club too. When I am not in school I enjoy listening to music and reading history magazines. Helping out in the library is really fun because all of the other librarians are hilarious and very kind.

Pupil Librarian Reward Days
In July 2017, the pupil librarians had a reward and 'thank you' day out of school with kayaking on Derwent Water followed by a walk around the lake with a stop at the Mary Mount Hotel for a lovely lunch, only just making it back to school for the end of the day by the skin of our teeth!
On Monday 18th July 2016, the pupil librarians enjoyed a Thirlmere walk and pub lunch in recognition of their hard work over the year.
